The title says it all.
You CANNOT get software for this. URC wants you to pay someone else to program it.
The keys WILL wear out. I fixed this by applying conductive epoxy to the pads.
RF works intermittantly now. 2 years old and it looks like it is on it's last legs.

Yeah, I'm talking to you. If you came into this looking for something that was going to replace all of your remotes in 5 minutes, you are in over your head already. First of all, don't buy this from Amazon. I like Amazon, and use them for many things. But you need to buy this remote from an authorized reseller. I recommend (...). They are great, and helpful (and their price is better than Amazon's). Next. learn a little about remote controls before you get into this. They're not as simple as Logitech would have you believe. It takes a lot of work to make a truly powerful and useful universal remote really sing. I would recommend spending some time at (...). If you like doing that kind of stuff, as I do, it can be fun. If you're strictly a plug and play type of person, this remote is not for you, unless you buy it from a competent (I stress competent) professional installer. Here's a hint: If you go to (...), and joyfully spend hours at the site, reading all about remote controls, you will probably enjoy buying and programming this remote. If your eyes glaze over in five minutes, and you can't grasp the concept of punch through or discrete codes, either give up owning this remote, or buy it from a professional installer.
Programmed correctly, this remote is a joy to own. It's powerful, reliable and unobtrusive. It gets the job done without becoming the center of attention. I've installed numerous home theater setups with this baby, and if you could see how uncluttered, uncomplicated and slick this remote helped make them your eyes would bug out. One example: Two flat panel televisions hung on the walls of separate rooms, being fed by satellite boxes, a single Apple TV, and a single Roku, all through a matrix switch. All components in the basement, 40 feet away from the TVs. No components in the room with the displays, but full control of all components with one remote control that can be easily operated by a very non-technical female and a 6 year old. Oh, and BTW: The same remote also controls the lights...
If you decide this remote is for you, I will reiterate that you absolutely must buy it from an authorized dealer. You will then get the updatable software, and will be fixed up for the life of the remote. Please remember to back up the installer exe file. And please stop whining about the URC software download policy. It was put in place to protect their deservedly good reputation from people like some of the ones who have posted reviews here.
